2018 Dec 01Sixth Report of Burundi to the Convention on Biological Diversity
The preparation of Burundi's sixth biodiversity report is in line with article 26 of the Convention on Biological Diversity and decision XIII/27 of the Conference of the Parties. Thus, with the financial support of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the Burundian Office for Environmental Protection, CBD National Focal Point Institute, in collaboration with UNEP, received the mandate to prepare the sixth country report, which should be submitted before 31 December 2018.
This National Report is therefore a complement to the elements provided in Burundi's 5th report. It includes information on the objectives pursued at the national level, which contain the national objectives corresponding to those of Aichi, the implementation measures that have been taken and an assessment of their effectiveness, obstacles and related scientific and technical needs in order to achieve the national objectives, the assessment of the progress made in achieving each national objective, the description of the national contribution to the achievement of each Aichi Target for global biodiversity and the update of the profile of biodiversity country which involves providing data on the status and trends of biodiversity, the benefits derived from biodiversity, and ecosystem services that include. The report shows the status of implementation of the 2011-2020 Strategic Plan for Biodiversity and the achievement of the Aichi Biodiversity Targets.
