This document updates the preliminary opinion sent to the PAS for its meeting in January 2000 (entitled: Opinion (preliminary) of the Specialized Study of Fishing Practices in the Strategic Action Programme, dated December 1999). Therefore, this document provides the main findings for the Specialized Study of Fishing Practices (ESPP) that relate to the strategic management of biodiversity and to any threat that fishing practices may cause to aquatic biodiversity.
