The RFUK is fighting deforestation locally and globally. At the local level, she helps forest communities gain land rights, challenge logging companies, manage their forests, and protect their environment. Globally, she campaigns to influence national and international laws to protect tropical forests and their inhabitants.

RFUK believes that the best way to protect the rainforest is by empowering indigenous peoples to defend their ancestral lands.

RFUK's approach differs from that of other organizations in that it is committed to human rights and environmental protection. Instead of buying land or conserving forests solely for their biodiversity value, RFUK encourages the establishment of community rights to tropical rainforest land, addressing problems associated with deforestation and allowing local people to benefit equitably from forest use and protection.

Since its inception, the Rainforest Foundation has helped indigenous and local communities protect over 12 million hectares of tropical forest.
