Based on phytosociological surveys carried out in fallow vegetation divided into three age classes (0-2 years, 3-5 years and more than 5 years) and located in the periphery of four protected areas in Burundi, an individualization and a hierarchy of plant groups were carried out. The objective was to show that current groups, observed along the continuum of post-cultural succession, have shaped landscapes different from those described by ancient botanists who explored vegetation in the same localities.
