Today, tourism is a larger and more dynamic sector of the global economy. At the end of 2007, tourism accounted for
more than 10.3% of global GDP.
It is a sector with a high level of human resources. According to available data, this sector creates more than 230 million direct or indirect jobs. This represents around 8% of the global workforce.
Since 2007, Africa has recorded an average revenue growth of at least 7% per year;
also, tourism has become a very dynamic activity in some countries bordering Burundi. This is the case of Rwanda, which in 2009
made 175 million US dollars.
