The present research is carried out within the framework of the partnership between the University of Burundi in collaboration and the National Institute for Environment and Nature Conservation (INECN). It is being carried out by a student in an Advanced Master in Environmental Sciences at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Burundi. In this study, the overall objective is to show the impacts of ecosystem disturbance on the diversity of pollinating wild bees. The study will make it possible to establish a link between landscape composition and bee species and to visualize the level of human influence on the diversity of pollinators.
The present study is carried out in the National Parks of Kibira (Rwegura mountain rainforest sector and its coastal agricultural environments) and Rusizi (open ecosystem and coastal agricultural environments) National Parks, the city of Bujumbura and peripheral areas (agroecosystems) as well as the Mumirwa region (agricultural ecosystems).
| The choice of these sites is guided by the fact that they are at a different altitudinal gradient and have a different landscape composition. The collection of samples concerns all bees visiting flowers or not using an entomological net, Malaise trap and yellow tanks filled with detergent water and will last 6 months. |
