Fourth quarterly meeting of the Interinstitutional Focal Points (PFIs) of the CHM-Burundian, 2017

Fourth quarterly meeting of the focal points On 16 March 2017, a fourth quarterly meeting of the Interinstitutional Focal Points of the CHM-Burundians was held, within the premises of the liaison office of the Burundian Office for Environmental Protection (OBPE) as part of the “Programme for research, information exchange, information exchange, awareness-raising and conservation of biodiversity in Burundi” established under the memorandum of understanding between the Burundian Office for the Protection of Environment (OBPE) and the Royal Institute of Natural Sciences of Belgium (IRSCnb).

After welcoming the participants, the National Focal Point then gave the results of the CHM competition in which the CHM-Burundian had participated. He first recalled that the prize was intended for countries whose CHMs would have distinguished themselves throughout the world. The results of this competition were announced in November 2016 in Cancun, Mexico. In this competition, he pointed out, Burundi was among the six countries in the world that received certificates of merit. As for the CHMs supervised by Belgium, the Burundian CHM-Burundian took first place, he said.

Training on the operation of the CHM-Burundian website was given to BUCANKURA Jean de Dieu who replaced RUGERINYANGE Charles on behalf of the Burundian Association for the Protection of Nature (ABN). The already trained participants then started the phase of posting information on the website. Posting information on the CHM site

Validation and publication of information on the CHM site During this phase of posting information on the website, questions were asked and answers were given. The activities of the said meeting continued with a systematic validation session of information already posted on the CHM-Burundian website.

Before the end of the workshop, it was proposed to test the CBD website, which is a system for evaluating the implementation of the SNPAB, by adhering to this system. The NFP closed the workshop with thanks and invited PFIs to work harder to prepare for the next meeting.
