Project: Combating food insecurity in Batwa households in Mutumba

The project supported 46 households from the Batwa community (indigenous people) spread over two sub-hills, namely the Mubaragaza sub-hill (38 households) and the Musenga sub-hill (8 households) in the Mutumba commune of the Karusi province. These households were identified following the investigation conducted by APRN/BEPB, which revealed that these households live in deplorable food insecurity conditions. Agriculture practised on a small piece of degraded land does not allow them to meet their primary needs, namely food, thus making them more vulnerable.

Financing Land

The project supported the indigenous Batwa community to alleviate the food insecurity situation by raising goats.
