Sunflower cultivation was introduced in Burundi during the 1930s. The popularization of sunflower cultivation and the increase of its productivity could contribute to the improvement of the food security of the Burundian population. Sunflowers currently offer opportunities for food security and economic development. Achieving this objective requires mastering its cultivation techniques and ecological requirements. It is in this context that a study based on the monitoring of a sunflower crop under conditions of association with beans and the application or not of organic fertilizer was conducted. The results obtained confirmed a significant effect of manure on all the parameters measured in contrast to the sunflower-bean association. Further studies on pests, diseases, and the association of other crops are recommended to improve knowledge in this area.
