It is in this context that the student BUZOYA Fidèle from the Faculty of Sciences, Department of Biology completed an internship, from January 08 to February 14, 2020, at the OBPE located in Jabe within the Biodiversity Research Department, under the following theme: “Floristic diversity of the Rusizi National Park: Case of the Poaceae and Malvaceae families”.

This study consisted in identifying species from the Poaceae and Malvaceae families from the Rusizi National Park. The supervision of the student was provided by Prof. Joël NDAYISHIMIYE, Professor at the University of Burundi and Msc. MBARUSHIMANA Didier, researcher at OBPE.

During the first week of the internship, the student identified samples from these two families available at the OBPE herbarium. He referred to Troupin's books in order to be able to identify them and to species already identified and preserved at the OBPE herbarium located in Jabe within the Biodiversity Research Department.

The following two weeks, the student recorded all the species of these two pNRI families already identified and preserved in the OBPE herbarium.

Finally, in the last week, a data analysis and the drafting of the internship report were carried out.
