2015 Sep 10Kibira National Park Conservation Support Committees Training Report
According to law No. 1/10 of 30 May 2011 on the creation and management of protected areas in Burundi, it is planned to set up communal and intercommunal committees around each protected area. These committees are essentially composed of members who do not have the required capacities to participate effectively in the participatory management of these ecosystems, which for some may be quite complex for some. Faced with these challenges, a training workshop was organized for representatives of these committees to support the management of Kibira National Park, which took place on 8 and 10 September 2015 respectively at the “Le Paradis” hotel in Kayanza and at the Imbo bar in Cibitoke.
The objectives of this training workshop were:
- The training of representatives of support committees on the participatory management of the PN. Kibira;
- The production, by the participants in the training, of 2 programs on bushfires and the participatory management of protected areas on Radio Maria Burundi;
- Mapping of stakeholders in the conservation of biodiversity.
