2019 Dec 16Report on research activities on pollinating insects at Mount Teza, Kibira National Park, Kibira National Park, Rusizi and the city of Bujumbura for the month of November and December of the fourth quarter, 2019
The Burundian Office for Environmental Protection (OBPE), through the “Program of Research, Information Exchange, Information Exchange, Awareness and Conservation of Biodiversity in Burundi” under the funding of the Royal Institute of Natural Sciences of Belgium (IRSNB), has the mission of conducting research on pollinators in order to improve knowledge on the functioning of pollination as an ecosystem service. This research helps to improve the state of biodiversity, fight poverty, and improve food security. Thus, pollinator collection trips were organized on dates from 9 to 12 December 2019 at the National Park of Mount Teza of the Kibira National Park and in the city of Bujumbura to carry out research activities on pollinating insects as well as in Ruvubu National Park to begin the trial of meliponiculture. These activities count for the months of November and December of the fourth quarter of 2019.
