The objective of the CGES is to determine an environmental and social selection process that will allow the structures responsible for implementing the project to have a framework to be able to identify, assess and mitigate the potential environmental and social impacts of the activities planned at the planning stage. It also defines the framework for managing environmental and social impacts as well as institutional arrangements for implementation, monitoring and follow-up.

This document is the backbone of the project in terms of assessing potential environmental and social impacts. Its approval is a prerequisite for the provision of financing by the World Bank for the implementation of the Project.
