The Polytechnic University of Gitega (UPG) was created on 13 October 2013 by the “General Consultative Assembly of the founding members”. Approved by the ordinance of the Ministry of the Interior No. 530/1507 of October 23, 2013 as a Non-Profit Association (ASBL), it received authorization to open its doors to the first laureates on January 29, 2014 by ordinance No. 610/103 of the Ministry having higher education in its remit. The UPG is a community institution for three reasons: it was born first of all from the will of the community, it is then supported by the community and finally, the organization of the courses takes into account the real needs of the community.
