This study comes as a solution to these kinds of impasses in the implementation of the SNPAB. It is timely because Burundi is in the midst of implementing this policy document drawn up in 2013. It seeks to analyze, across target groups, the root causes of key biodiversity problems, to prioritize them, to describe their manifestations and to formulate the related indicators. These are the indicators that will be used to assess the progress made in the search for solutions to the root causes of biodiversity.

In addition, this study focuses on the root causes in order to prepare awareness-raising interventions for all actors in order to raise awareness for the protection of biodiversity and the sustainable use of natural resources.
