In a raid carried out by a Burundi Eco reporter on Monday, December 14, 2020 on the Muha, Kanyosha, Ntahangwa and Mutimbuzi rivers, it was noted that the operators of construction materials are at work especially on the Mutimbuzi River. Quite a few people believe that these cooperatives have arrogated to themselves the right to exploit construction materials there. The operators who spoke to Burundi Eco say that this work is part of the protection of Melchior Ndadaye International Airport and all the infrastructure along the Mutimbuzi River. They claim that they will exploit these building materials in strict compliance with the law. They thank the OBUHA for giving them this authorization. Otherwise, their families would starve to death due to the lack of financial resources.
