2020 Dec 10Report on the monitoring activities of management fires at the level of the experimental system set up in Ruvubu National Park
On December 9 to 10, 2020, as part of the Program for Research, Information Exchange, Awareness and Conservation of Biodiversity in Burundi executed in partnership between the Burundian Office for Environmental Protection (OBPE) and the Royal Institute of Natural Sciences of Belgium (IRSNB), a decent fire monitoring program was organized in the RUVUBU National Park. The descent made it possible to observe biodiversity and possible changes in habitats on the sites of the pre-established plots in the RUVUBU National Park, to collect data on the sheets and to take photos that will help to compare the evolution of ecosystems after the fires. The activity took place at the level of two plots at two sites including Ntembagara II in Muremera for the RDI Sector and Kuritura in Gasave for the RG I Sector and concerned the management fires for the month of December 2020. Note that management fires were applied in plot No. 2 of the two sites on June 13, 2020 and plot 1 of the Kuritura site was invaded by criminal fires.
