As part of the implementation of the project (IAEA/BDI 5001: Improving cassava productivity through mutation breeding and best practices for water and nutrient management using nuclear techniques), funded by the IAEA, training on best practices on cassava cultivation and the use of nuclear techniques was planned. This training was organized in conjunction with another training and exchange of experience on the application of in-vitro and molecular culture techniques in the study of mutation genetics organized in March 2018.
The purpose of this training was to strengthen the knowledge of researchers and technicians from ISABU and other partner institutions in agricultural research on appropriate practices for cassava cultivation and the use of nuclear techniques, such as the managers and technicians of the National Office for Seed Control and Certification (ONCCS).
In addition to Burundian participants, four participants from the Central African Republic (CAR) took part in this training; all researchers at the University of Bangui.
