Illegal bamboo cutting

Bamboo, Sirundinaria alpina, is very abundant in Kbira National Park, more precisely in three sectors of the four that make up the park, namely the Teza, Rwegura and Musigati sectors. This resource is illegally cut by local populations, including the Batwa. It is used in crafts, basketry, construction and even in commerce. It supports several of the poorest households around the park.
