As part of the research program, information exchange, awareness-raising and conservation of biodiversity in Burundi and as part of the preparation of the Master's Thesis in Sciences and Integrated Environmental Management at the University of Burundi, a research project entitled “Assessment of the impact of forest degradation on the ecology and diversity of pollinating Syrphidae in the Kibira National Park and surrounding ecosystems” was initiated. This project aims to collect, analyze and systematize Syrphidae samples collected in Kibira National Park and surrounding ecosystems in order to assess the impact of forest degradation on the ecology and diversity of pollinating Syrphidae. The results of this research made it possible to develop a publication in collaboration with all stakeholders.
