As part of the “program of research, information exchange, awareness-raising and conservation of biodiversity in Burundi” established under the Memorandum of Understanding between the OBPE and the Royal Institute of Natural Sciences of Belgium (IRSCnb), the monitoring of bamboo (Arundinaria alpina) at the level of the quadrants located in the three sectors of the Kibira National Park (PNK), namely Musigati, RSNB), the monitoring of bamboo (Arundinaria alpina) at the level of quadrants located in the three sectors of the Kibira National Park (PNK), namely Musigati, RSNB Wegura and Teza, was carried out in four stages during the year 2023. Monitoring the dynamics of bamboo in PNK consists in observing its spatial and temporal evolution, which would allow the daily managers of the park to adopt appropriate strategies in order to guarantee the sustainability of this resource, which is highly sought after by coastal communities. To this end, the essential purpose of this monitoring of the “bamboo” resource at the PNK is to collect data to assess the level of protection and use of the resource.
