2024 Sep 27Public consultation sessions in municipalities hosting the Northern Protected Aquatic Landscape
From 16 to 25 September 2024, the commission responsible for updating the Development and Management Plan (PAG) of the Northern Protected Aquatic Landscape (PAPN) conducted consultation sessions with the public involved in the management and conservation of the PAPN. This work involved public consultations, the collection of information on biodiversity, the verification of information on mapping, and the collection of secondary information near the communities bordering the PAPN and the local administration and technical services. This commission, divided into four groups, worked on the four aspects mentioned above. Biodiversity and mapping teams visited all lakes Rweru, Narungazi, Mwangi, Mwangere, Kanzigiri, Gacamirindi, Nagitamo, Cohoha and Rwihinda and their marshes as well as the Murehe Nature Reserve collecting all information on biodiversity, threats and buffer zone boundaries for each lake visited.
