Rusizi National Park threatened by human activities
Rusizi Park is under threat from human activities. As environmental journalists have noted, this park located in the town of Gihanga is threatened by agricultural activities.
There are large areas of diversified crop fields. Another significant threat is the Mpanda cemetery located at this location, which is gradually eating away at the park. What is worrying is that this is being done in full view of administrative officials.
The forest rangers found on site are not denying the facts. “We always show up in this park to fight against people who tend to degrade this park by practicing agricultural activities there. However, our efforts are limited. We are no longer able to hunt them. We end up with fields from different cultures,” they explain.
