The Government of Burundi has requested the support of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF) and the Global Forest Finance Facilitation Network (RMFFF) to help it develop a National Forest Financing Strategy. The first steps in supporting UNFF were the production of a report on the current state of forest management and the forest financial landscape in Burundi1. The production of this report involved an extensive literary review, multiple interviews and an evaluation of national data on forest management and financing. A training workshop was then organized by UNFF in collaboration with the Burundian Office for Environmental Protection (OBPE) to provide technical support to Burundi in mobilizing financial and other resources for sustainable forest management.
