WCO Sub-regional workshop for the Development and update of Standard Operating Procedures for the transport, safety, storage and handling of environmentally sensitive goods within Customs controlled areas

From 27 to 30 May 2024, a sub-regional workshop was held in Bujumbura, Burundi, on the development and updating of standard operating procedures for the transport, security, storage and handling of environmentally sensitive goods in Customs controlled areas. The workshop was organised by the World Customs Organisation (WCO) in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Secretariat of the Basel Convention (SCB), under the auspices of the Trade Facilitation and Customs Modernization Programme for Sustainable Development in Sub-Saharan Africa (Sida-WCO TFCM Programme) with funding from the Swedish government. The event was attended by guests from Burundi, Kenya and Uganda.
