Effect of pollinators on the productivity of cultivated species: The case of beans

The research on the effect of pollinators on bean productivity was conducted by Mr. NTIHEBABAYO Audace from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Burundi under the supervision of Professor HABONIMANA Bernadette from the University of Burundi and Msc. NZIGIDAHERA Benoît from the Burundian Office for Environmental Protection (OBPE).

Experimental device The preparation of the ground took place from 19/07/ to 22/07/2016. The experimental setup consists of four blocks and each block is divided into two plots (one plot that leaves open pollination and another that will be covered by a mosquito net to protect it against pollinators). Sowing has taken place and the germination rate has been analyzed

At the end of flowering, when the pods appear, we removed the mosquito nets on the covered plots to encourage the maturation of the pods. At this very stage, the crop has undergone phytosanitary treatment to combat black aphids and other pod pests.
