Third international symposium on tephritidea On 10 April 2016, a third international symposium of researchers on Tephritidae from East Africa and the Middle East was organized in Stellenbosch in South Africa. Burundi was represented by Mr. NDAYIZEYE Liévin, researcher on fruit flies at the Burundian Office for Environmental Protection (OBPE). The activities of this symposium were mainly marked by oral presentation sessions and posters. Approximately 50 presentations were made. During the advertising sessions, each participant had to stand in front of their poster in order to explain to visitors (participants interested in this poster) the purpose of their research, the methods and the results found. Apart from these presentations and advertising posters, satellite meetings took place. For example, the ALUMNI, which brought together all African students and researchers who received training courses on fruit flies from the Royal Museum for Central Africa (MRAC). All these students and researchers were sponsored by the Belgian Development Cooperation.
