As part of the program of periodic meetings of the Interinstitutional Focal Points (PFIs) of the CHM-Burundians, a third meeting was held in the meeting room of the liaison office of the Burundian Office for Environmental Protection (OBPE) located in Jabe. It was this Wednesday, September 7, 2016. The PFIs who were present in this meeting came from the various institutions working in the field of biodiversity.
The activities of this meeting were opened by the National Focal Point (NFP) of the CHM-Burundians who, in his speech, first welcomed the participants, then noted that the current meeting will contribute to further preparation in the evaluation of the CHM-Burundian. The highlights of the meeting were:
- Put the files on the CHM-Burundian website;
- Work on the evaluation inventories of activities carried out for the implementation of the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (SNPAB) in accordance with the national objectives designed on the basis of those of Aichi;
- Validate the information posted on the CHM-Burundian website.
Without delay, the Interinstitutional Focal Points of the CHM-Burundians began the phase of putting the files on the website and creating web pages concerning the various activities carried out in their institutions of origin. It should be noted that during this phase, the PFN of the CHM-Burundians, Msc. NZIGIDAHERA Benoît gave guidelines, whenever necessary, in order to inform the PFIs.
This phase was followed by work to assess the implementation of the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (SNPAB). During this phase, the NFP first showed the PFIs how to proceed in this assessment process.
All of a sudden, the PFIs assessed the implementation of the SNPAB following the guidelines of the NFP. It was even an opportunity to ask questions about the difficulties encountered during this session.
The meeting ended with the validation of some information posted on the CHM-Burundian website and the PFN encouraged the PFIs to continue working on the directories for the evaluation of the implementation of the SNPAB and to post more information concerning the activities carried out in their institutions of origin aimed at the implementation of the SNPAB.
