The study on the analysis of the fisheries sector was commissioned by FAO as part of the project

“Strengthening the packaging and processing sector for fish in Lake Tanganyika and supporting its marketing”.

It is intended to be a prelude to technical assistance that FAO will provide to the sector and which will focus mainly on:

i) improving the packaging and processing of fish from Lake Tanganyika,

ii) marketing support with the main objective of increasing the incomes of the populations benefiting from the project.

The objective of the study is to obtain a global understanding of the sector from production to marketing in order to create the links necessary for marketing.
