The present study on capacity building is a necessary step to prepare for the implementation of the National Strategy and Action Plan on Biological Diversity developed in 2001. It is in line with article 13 of the Convention on Biological Diversity ratified by Burundi in 1997 and is part of the second enabling activity financed by GEF/UNDP.
