The present study on “the identification of needs for the creation of new areas to be protected or other special protection areas representative of biodiversity” is part of the implementation of the Capacity Building Project for the implementation of the National Strategy and Action Plan on Biological Diversity (SNPA-DB) and the Strengthening of the Clearing House Mechanism (CHM) funded by the GEF /UNDP.

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the implementation of the SNPA-DB through the assessment of capacity building needs through defined national priorities, and in particular “the identification of capacity building needs for the implementation of general conservation and sustainable use measures in situ and ex situ”.
