List of batrachological species in Burundi

The fauna of Burundi remains rich and varied because of the diversity of biotopes. It is composed of relatively well known vertebrates and very poorly studied invertebrates. Vertebrates include mammals, birds, reptiles, reptiles, amphibians, and fish with around 1202 species.

Amphibians are a little-studied group in Burundi. Currently, there are 57 species of the Order Anurans. The most abundant Ranidae family is also the most diverse. Endemicity in the group of known amphibians is limited to 2 species from the Malagarazi River.

This document gives a certainly non-exhaustive list of the batrachological species of Burundi (Table 1). This list is based on inventory work carried out as part of various studies carried out at INECN and the University of Burundi.
