The phenomena of land degradation that are observed in all ecological zones forced Burundi to develop the National Action Programme to Combat Land Degradation (PAN/LCD) in 2005 within the framework of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UN CCD). Currently, 5 years after the implementation of this program, Burundi would like to develop the National Strategy and Action Plan to Combat Land Degradation as part of the Capacity Building Project for Sustainable Land Management, under funding from GEF/UNDP.
