In 2013, Burundi adopted its new National Strategy and Action Plan on Biodiversity (2013-2020) around the following vision: “By 2030, biological diversity is restored, conserved and used rationally by all actors, ensuring the maintenance of ecosystem services and guaranteeing essential benefits for current and future generations.” The reduction or disappearance of goods and services will significantly reduce the standard of living of the population with severe repercussions on the health sectors and the economy.
In order to achieve this vision, all individuals, especially Policy Makers and Administrators, must be aware of the value of biological diversity and measures must be taken to conserve and use it sustainably.
