2006 Feb 01Preservation of the Ruvubu National Park in Mutumba Commune
The activities carried out under the Microsubsidies/NTEAP/IBN Project in the area bordering Mubaragaza Hill, in Mutumba Commune, contributed to the preservation of the Ruvubu National Park. Indeed, the various training and awareness-raising of members of the Association on environmental issues, forestry and agroforestry techniques, beekeeping and the manufacture of improved stoves, have made it possible to have the capacities required for the protection of this protected area. In the short future, the forestry and agroforestry activities carried out will allow the protection of land against erosion, the supply of wood useful to the population and the fertilization of the land. All of this has a positive impact on the health of the park. The beekeeping activities made it possible to understand that beekeeping is only possible if the park is in good health as it is a source of nectar for bees. The promotion of improved stoves is an important activity that has alleviated the pressure of the population on the park's wood.
