2013 Nov 01Regional plan for the implementation of the National Strategy and Action Plan on Biodiversity in the Imbo plain
In 2000, a National Strategy and Action Plan on Biological Diversity (SNPA-DB) was developed. The process of its development took into consideration strategies and action plans at the level of the country's ecological zones. Ten years after its adoption by the Government and as recommended by the Convention, Burundi must assess and revise its Strategy at both the national and regional levels. It is in this context that, with funding from the Global Environment Fund (GEF), with as implementing agency the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and as national implementing agency the Burundian Office for Environmental Protection (ex-National Institute for Environment and Nature Conservation), Burundi has just developed the National Strategy and National Action Plan on Biodiversity (SNPAB), which has just been validated. idea. At present, the country intends to put in place regional plans to implement this strategy.
