This document determines field sampling methods as well as subsequent sample processing techniques to be used in work that contributes to the specialized study of biodiversity. The document was developed based on the Biodiversity work plan, the testing of field sampling methods undertaken during training activities in Tanzania and Burundi in 1997 and 1998, as well as documentation on techniques for studying biodiversity in other locations. This document would like to leave clear instructions in place for the participants of the specialized study, and for those involved in biodiversity assessment and monitoring programs on the lake in the years to come.
