2020 May 01Status of the invasive liana Sericostachys scandens
As part of the implementation of the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (SNPAB-2013-2020) in its objective 10, through which Burundi is committed to the eradication or control of dangerous species, a reference study on the “distribution and status of the species Sericostachys scandens (Amaranthaceae) in Burundi” was undertaken. The general objective of this study is to contribute to the knowledge of invasive species threatening the biodiversity of ecosystems in Burundi in order to control and eradicate them. The data collected relate to the spatial distribution of the species, its density, its habitat and anthropogenic factors. The information collected was processed and transformed into indicators. Various actions are proposed to actively manage the invasive species Sericostachys scandens in order to control or eradicate it.
