The “Vision Burundi emerging country in 2040 and developed country in 2060” is a national policy document and a road map for the economic and social development of Burundi that will serve current and future generations. It is a long-term development planning instrument that will guide sustainable development policies and strategies.

A national vision is a perception of the future, which reveals and indicates something beyond what is already available and accessible. In this respect, the objective of our vision is to improve the quality of life of Burundians by 2040 and to reach the level of a developed nation by 2060.

We need a change in mindset and a system that puts patriotism, hard work, autonomy, and integrity at the forefront. The successful implementation of the vision requires its ownership by all to strengthen the participation and commitment of all citizens, civil societies, the private sector, non-governmental organizations, the international community as well as our development partners.
