In order to provide the user with most of the information available on the agricultural sector, the Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies of Burundi (ISTEEBU) regularly produces national agricultural production statistics (Yearbook of Statistics, ISTEEBU), in particular with regard to the most important crops.

The statistical data presented in this yearbook relate to:

• Food production year by year and season by season except for the years 1999 and 2004 for which only annual totals will be presented;
• Branches associated with the agricultural sector (livestock, fishing and forestry);
• Cash crops (coffee, cotton, tea, tea, sugar cane, rice, oil palm and cinchona).
