The Gatumba zone, which is completely a delta between Lake Tanganyika and the two branches of the Rusizi Rivers (the small and the large Rusizi) with one of the lowest altitude differences in Burundi, is seriously invaded by flooding. The population of the area is in deplorable conditions with water reaching the height of the windows of their houses.
