On Muzima Hill, a valley has fractured and then flowed, putting deep layers on the surface since dawn on Monday. This phenomenon did not go unnoticed by the inhabitants of this locality.

Miraculous, strange and supernatural are some of the qualifiers attributed to this fact, which has hitherto been inexplicable. It occurred at the foot of the Rubanga mountain range in Bururi commune and province, 300 m from the Nyabigega communal high school.

Account of the facts

A valley was fractured and the layers of depth rose to the surface, those of the surfaces ended up in depth and the whole sank over a distance of about 200 m. The damage included destroyed crop fields such as bananas, cabbages, sweet potatoes and beans. As Jérémie Nsengiyumva, a resident of this locality, says, the survival of the residents of this valley depended on the agricultural harvest from these fields.

“We fear for our safety. Our houses could easily collapse on us if this strange phenomenon, which I witnessed, were to happen again,” laments Capitoline Ndorukwigira, a resident of Muzima. These residents are asking for the intervention of the administration in order to avoid the worst. Instead, the governor of Bururi, Frédéric Niyonzima, recommends that they do not frequent this currently unstable area while waiting for specialists to rule on this phenomenon.

Since this Monday, May 25, different people have been visiting this valley as a tourist site. Everyone who goes there says that what is happening is beyond their comprehension.
