Climate promise 2, new UNDP support for low carbon emissions in Burundi

Launch on 16 August 2024 of the second phase of the Climate Promise initiative by UNDP in collaboration with the Minister of Environment, Agriculture and Livestock, to support the Government of Burundi in developing the vision and strategy for low carbon emissions in order to keep the global temperature increase well below 2 degrees Celsius and to make even greater efforts to limit the increase in temperature to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.

The “Climate Promise” is the initiative set up in 2019 by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to support countries in implementing their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). The initiative came in response to the request of the Secretary General of the United Nations System to give top priority to NDCs and to coordinate the United Nations System's effort to contribute to the implementation of the Paris Agreement.
