The overflow of the waters of the Rusizi II River coupled with the rise of the waters of Lake Tanganyika frightens the inhabitants of the Gatumba and Rukaramu areas. Neighborhoods are transformed one by one into streams. The damage is unspeakable. Economic activities are paralyzed. Both public and private infrastructures are overwhelmed. They sag from day to day. Children's education is undermined. Hygiene leaves much to be desired. People have emptied the place. An estimated 5000 people have been affected. The Administration is called upon to help the victims.
