Gitega: More than 8,000 eucalyptus plants planted on the Cene-Murago mountain range

As part of the Thursday dedicated to the environment, the Governor of Gitega Province Venant Manirambona joined the population of the Makebuko commune, Maramvya zone on December 16, 2021 in the work of planting eucalyptus tree seedlings on the Cene-Murago mountain range. The work to plant tree seedlings on this channel involved the participation of administrative and communal authorities, law enforcement and security forces from various camps. They were able to plant over 8,000 tree seedlings.

In his message to the population of the Maramvya zone, Makebuko commune, on the sidelines of this work, the Governor of Gitega Venant Manirambona thanked the police units, the military and the population for their massive participation in environmental protection work under the Ewe Burundi urambaye project. He then sensitized the population of his province to respond to the Ewe Burundi Urambaye project in order to protect the environment.

Venant Manirambona invited the population to plant eucalyptus trees on the mountains and to plant agroforest trees in crop fields. He urged the population of Gitega to properly maintain the tree plans planted as part of the Ewe Burundi Urambaye government project and especially to avoid bushfires.

After the Maramvya zone, the Governor of Gitega continued his work in the Murenda area of Makebuko commune, where he distributed 560 sheets to cover 28 houses of the Batwa community population living in the village of Murenda. The Governor urged this Batwa population from the Village of Murenda in the village of Murenda in Makabuko commune to avoid the bad habit of selling the metal sheets given to them as they did in the past. He said that these sheets are donated by the government to ensure better housing for them.

The distribution of metal sheets will continue in other Batwa sites in Gitega province as promised by the hard-working and responsible government that wants the well-being of its population, hammered the governor of Gitega.
