On the dates of 18 to 19, a meeting of the Interinstitutional Focal Points of the CHM-Burundi was held in the room of the Dolce Vita Hotel, in the framework of the “CHM-OBPE” Project of the Programme for Research, Information Exchange, Awareness-raising and Conservation of Biodiversity in Burundi. During these two days, the focal points were trained, by the National Focal Point of the CHM-Belgium, in the use of the Bioland system for the CHM and in the transfer of information from the ToolKit Portal to Bioland to disseminate information on biodiversity. This meeting was attended by two Interinstitutional Focal Points from the Biodiversity Research Department of the OBPE Forestry Department, Two Focal Points from the Department of Environment and Climate Change of the OBPE and one Interinstitutional Focal Point from the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture of the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Livestock. In addition, the Administrative and Financial Director (DAF) of OBPE and the assistant to the manager of CHM-Burundi were present, who are involved in the financial management of the project.
First, the Interinstitutional Focal Points presented to the trainer the difficulties encountered in using the Bioland tool after the training on its use which took place in August 2019. The trainer took advantage of this opportunity to further clarify how to use this tool and the mistakes to avoid, etc.
Subsequently, under the supervision of the trainer, the Interinstitutional Focal Points transferred information from the ToolKit Portal to Bioland. Thus, each information transferred was submitted to an evaluation before being validated by the trainer, the manager of the research program, information exchange, awareness-raising and biodiversity conservation in Burundi and the CHM assistant.
Finally, the trainer and the program manager published the validated information on Bioland. A total of 62 pieces of information were validated and published on the CHM-Burundi website using the new tool, Bioland.
