The project “Establishing the reference situation for monitoring the dynamics of the habitats of the habitats of the Rusizi, Ruvubu and Kibira National Parks” aims to establish a reference situation of the vegetation of well-chosen habitats in the Rusizi, Kibira and Ruvubu National Parks. Based on three studies conducted in these protected areas, the data will be used to monitor the evolution of habitats on a daily basis. They will also be used to establish guides for the rapid recognition of the flora of each locality. This project, in which three students from the University of Burundi participate, will also allow these young researchers to have knowledge in monitoring habitats. The overall objective of the project is “Establishment of systems for monitoring the dynamics of habitats, populations and species in the management of protected areas in Burundi”.
The specific objectives are as follows:
- Establishment of areas to monitor the dynamics of habitats, populations and species in the Rusizi, Kibira and Ruvubu National Parks;
- Establishment of the scientific data necessary for the start of activities to monitor habitats, populations and species.
