2014 Apr 01Environmental and Social Impact Study of the Mpanda Hydroelectric Power Plant Development Project (ESIA)
This study prepared by AGAPE Burundi concerns the production of a hydroelectric power plant with a capacity of 10.4 MW, interconnection lines and connection stations.
The overall objective of the development of the Mpanda Hydroelectric Power Plant (CHE) is to improve the sustainability of access and supply to electricity services by assisting the Water and Electricity Production and Distribution Authority (REGIDESO) to restore the viability, continuity and quality of service despite the demand, which is itself a result of the increase in population and economic agents (ESIA CHE, 2014). According to this study, CHE comes as a palliative for the deficit in production capacity in the electricity sector.
