The national report of Burundi to be presented during the third United Nations conference on housing and sustainable development in urban areas is the result of consultations with available documentation, but also of the consultation of persons responsible for the services directly or indirectly concerned; as well as consultations carried out through factsheets proposed by UN HABITAT.

This report is based on the general guidelines and presentation templates governing the preparation of national reports on six main themes, challenges and twelve key indicators. This leads to a review of the implementation of the Habitat II Programme of Action, new challenges, recent trends and the vision for sustainable urban habitats and sustainable development, as well as cross-sectoral issues, in a balanced manner.
