In Burundi, bamboo is relatively widely exploited and is used for several purposes. However, it is being exploited irrationally, which, if left unchecked, is likely to lead to its disappearance. Law No. 1/10 of 30 May 2011 on the creation and management of PAs in Burundi considers that the management of an PA must be accompanied by activities for the development of surrounding environments, in particular by granting neighbouring communities the right to use the natural resources of the PA.
The present study proposes a plan for the rational, sustainable and sustainable exploitation of Oldeania alpina and highlights the basic data for the creation of a sector of this species. This is a vision that will allow the population and the OBPE to simultaneously benefit from the benefits derived from the exploitation of bamboo while maintaining its conservation and that of its habitat.
